A place for fandom, the odd craft post, and anything else that strikes me. That could be historical, political, social justice, just about anything. You're bound to find profanity and adult themes here, but on the rare instance I post anything especially nsfw I'll try to tag as such. Playing around with a new theme and adding rec list pages. Not sure how I feel about it yet...the fonts a little small, so feel free to hit that ask button over there and let me know what you think.

“Outsiders are pretty routinely baffled by the popularity of slash fic amongst women, even if they haven’t been presented with the cold, hard, numerical truth, given fandom’s (accurate) reputation as a primarily female community. Though there are, of course, no statistics to confirm exactly how few men participate in fandom, they are certainly a minority. Though fandom and fanfiction are technically public – once again, you can find anything on Google, and to quote a movie I don’t otherwise like much, “The internet’s not written in pencil, Mark, it’s written in ink” – fandom spaces can give the illusion of privacy, of a sort of gated community that isn’t actually gated at all, but simply not of interest to those not in the know. In much the same way that, hundreds of years ago, many women wrote extensively but typically only for private circulation amongst friends and acquaintances, fanfiction is part of an informal, communal cultural exchange, functioning not as a capitalistic enterprise but as a kind of gift economy: I’ll write you this story, a fanfic writer might say, e-mailing her friend snippets of prose; you write me something back.”

“Listen to me, your body is not a temple. Temples can be destroyed and desecrated. Your body is a forest—thick canopies of maple trees and sweet scented wildflowers sprouting in the under wood. You will grow back, over and over, no matter how badly you are devastated.”

is it really that hard for peeps to write more literati nowadays? I’m dying over here. I need more fics.

Several people are still writing! You should check fanfiction.net.

I read almost only on fanfiction.net! It’s just the…

I have accounts on all three. I’m only a reader, not a writer though. LJ seems to be dying out lately. I migrated here when I fell in love with Gilmore Girls last year, because fandom over there doesn’t seem to exist anymore. I’ve always wondered why Ao3 never took off. It has 79 Literati fics as opposed to thousands on ff.net.

Yeah. LJ isn’t what it used to be. Almost anybody I know that still uses it also has a Tumblr and had mirrored their account to or moved to DW before that. Some fandoms still direct people to LJ for organizing bigbangs and community challenges. But Gilmore Girls ended so long ago that I think any resurgence was bound to be primarily Tumblr based. And who knows what it’ll be after that. When I first got into fandom there were still angelfire sites and yahoo group lists and LJ was where a lot of the more quality writers had started to migrate to from ff.net. And I have friends who tell stories from before that even. I took forever to get on the Tumblr bandwagon because I was so used to LJ.

I am crying I love this too much

Can love really travel back in time and heal a broken heart? Was it our joined hands that finally lifted Maria’s curse? I’d like to think so. There are some things that I know for certain: always throw spilt salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck, and fall in love whenever you can.

I read almost only on fanfiction.net! It’s just the problem of finding stories that are well written and updated often.

I also should mention I’ve been reading literati on there for close to ten years and have exhausted pretty much every good story since then haha

Have you checked my

I have Ao3 codes if anybody wants to come over there! Kind of a selfish offer, because I find it much easier to comment there. ;)  I haven’t had an ff.net account in years…I was kind of shocked to see how much Literati fic is there instead of on LJ or Ao3. Anyway, my ask box is open if anyone sees this and is interested.

Robazizo’s 22 Days Of Luke and Jess
Day 5 - Favourite Hug
4x21 Last Week Fights, This Week Tights
- You’re hoping for reciprocation? You got it. I’m here, Jess. I’m always here.
- Thanks.

I love how it starts as a manly handshake and ends in a warm hug that shows the bond these two have. The entire scene is golden, so I’ll probably get back to it later on. And we’ll just ignore the continuity error…

Jess never had a dad. He’ll never get those years growing up without one back. Hell, he probably didn’t even get much of a childhood. And that’s a whole grieving process in and of itself. But he’s got Luke now. And even though he’s legally an adult, even though he’s been fending for himself for a long time, knowing there’s someone in the world who has his back, that matters. This relationship is hands down one of my favorites. Partly because I love their snark and partly because -family-.

Damn woman, are you trying to make me cry? I really do need to finish the the rest of the 22 Days though. I keep getting sidetracked by Literati.

No, I’m not trying to make you cry. But maybe it’s a good think I kept the comment on the gif brief. ;) And yes, get back to the rest of the 22 days!

fiction-over-fact:

Tidalrace is making me want to watch the Rory/Jess saga play out on Gilmore Girls again. It’s just so hard! I want to bang their heads together to try and knock some sense into them!

I love how Gilmore Girls changes as you grow. You relate/react to different characters differently as you age and mature and I think that’s quite possibly the coolest side effect of the show.

Aw. But at least a lot of us think it’s pretty clear that eventually they get back together after the series ends. ;) They just had some learning to do and some life building to do first.

Well, I already don’t like Logan’s friends…

If anybody thinks that Jess doesn’t respect Luke, I’d just like to point out that Luke dropped a pile of self-help books in Jess’s lap and Jess read them. In a serious way, not a mocking one. A 19 year old boy with a chip on his shoulder.
